Spring?

I know the ground hog supposedly saw his shadow, but it definitely feels like spring these last few weeks! Well, spring in New England anyway.  Even all the snow we were supposed to get the last few weeks really didn’t amount to much and with all the warm temps and the rain, most all of the old snow is pretty much gone! I don’t know about everyone else, but my yard looks pretty bad and I keep thinking that it might be time to start a little pre-spring clean up, before the ground completely thaws and it gets really muddy, like we all know that it will.

Perfect time to rent a small dumpster, get rid of all that stuff that you meant to get rid of in the fall, rake up all the tree branches that fell from our mini tropical storm that happened last week and get a head start on Spring. Head on over to our homepage and get your $25 off coupon and give us a call. We can bring you out a dumpster same day, in a jiffy right now until it picks up, so call fast and be the first one on your block to have a nice looking yard!

2009 HAS FINALLY COME TO AN END, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ECONOMY?

Posted by labelle on December 23rd, 2009 under Uncategorized Tags: , ,  •  No Comments

2009 has been a really bad year for almost all industries in business. We all had to do what takes to survive, never-mind turn a profit. I have never seen so many well established businesses close down so fast. Places that have been around for the last hundred years. It is a real shame. However, the only thing you should do in this situation is have a positive attitude and learn from it. I know I’m glad that the year is over and I’ve always had a good reputation with my customers to keep us going. I look forward to 2010 being a much better year for my Waste Removal company. Business as we know it is changing faster than ever. Especially how we do our marketing. Print advertising is almost a thing of the past. The best way to stay ahead of our competition is to keep up with the times.

Getting Snow in your Dumpster

Posted by labelle on December 22nd, 2009 under dumpster rental, dumpster services, roll off dumpter rental, snow, snow in your dumpster, waste removal, weight of your dumpster Tags: , , , , , ,  •  No Comments

This is the time of year that we frequently get calls of people asking us if we charge them for the snow that has fallen into their dumpster…. Well the answer to this question is yes and no. If you have read our terms and faqs and other pages you will see that your dumpster rental includes a certain amount of weight – weight being the key word here, and yes, snow can be heavy! If you haven’t gone over the allowed weight limit for the size dumpster that you are renting, then no we don’t charge you for the snow – if you go over weight then yes you get charged the extra, there would be no way to know how much of the weight is snow and we get charged by the ton at the dump regardless of whether its snow or trash.

If the snow melts the next day then theoretically the water will seep down through your trash and run out the bottom cracks, but all of this can contribute to the weight of you dumpster (this includes rain too). When we pick your dumpster up, we literally take it straight from your site or home to the dump, so there never can be any question of weight, but we still do get people who can’t believe what their dumpster weighs! We will say it again….Trash Is Heavy :)

If you are renting a dumpster and it is planning to snow during your rental period, you are still responsible for the weight the snow could contribute (again, we get charged for the entire weight when we unload at the dump), but that being said you can do a couple things to make sure snow doesn’t fall in your dumpster too! You can put a large tarp right over the dumpster – its actually pretty simple. If your dumpster is pretty full then just go ahead and throw it up and over but make sure to secure it so the wind won’t blow it off. If your dumpster is not full then you will have to lay some boards over the top before putting the tarp on so the snow doesn’t sink the tarp right down into your dumpster then you have a dumpster full of snow AND tarp.

Might seem like a pain, but hey – we all love living in New England right? Snow, it just comes with the territory.

Things That People Throw Away…

I know in a past post we talked about how when you decide to clean and de-clutter that you should think about things that you might not want, but that still may have some life in them and could benefit someone else – especially someone less fortunate than yourself, rather than simply throwing them in your dumpster. I thought it would be good, during this time of giving, to take another look at this subject.

Picking up and bringing dumpsters to the dumpster disposal center everyday, we see pretty much everything from stuff that I definitely don’t want to mention to a G-rated audience (yes, use your imagination on that one) to perfectly good toys, furniture and appliances – just to name a few. For example, just in one day, I rescued from a dumpster rental a small girls 2-wheel bike with training wheels, barely looked used – this could easily have been given to the Salvation Army for resale to benefit people in need, posted on Freecycle or even put out in front of  someones home with a “Free” sign on it. We rescued it from the dumpster and someone will definitely be riding it this spring. On the same day we also rescued a great full-sized tripod in perfect working order. Next time we do a video for the website I am sure you will appreciate that it will not be quite as wobbly as the last few!

Really the list goes on and on from there the useful things that we pull from some of our dumpsters. We certainly aren’t telling people not to throw things out – hey its our business, getting rid of junk! Just thought it deserved mentioning one more time that recycling is so important – and it is so much more than separating your glass, plastic and cardboard. Have a great day and a Happy Holidays :)

Great Time to Tackle a Home Reno Project!

Now that your leaves and summer plants are about all cleaned up and the yard and outside of your property is ready for winter, its time to think….what’s next? Up here in New England, most of us just can’t be happy sitting around, enjoying the season we have to be working on a project. That knawing feeling of discontent that comes about as a result of knowing that there is that one (or maybe two) room(s) in your house or projects even that you have been meaning to get around to. Well, late fall/early winter is the perfect time to start thinking about a nice indoor home renovation project. Do you have an outdated bathroom (ya we have seen the pink tile), would you like to redecorate a spare bedroom (aka, place you store all your junk), or maybe even convert part of your attic or garage into livable space (just might raise your property value too)…..the possibilities are endless.

Before you can even think about the new design or how things should be situated in any room of your house, you need to empty out the old things you don’t use and the old materials that are not going to be reused! Get out your crow bar and start prying those old ugly tiles from the 60s, 70s and 80s down off the wall! Pull up that old fashion linoleum from your kitchen or pantry! Cut out and roll up that old smelly carpet! Once you have a nice empty room, free from its old, outdated things – you then can start to picture all the new possibilities and designs.

I always get this zen feeling of happiness when I know I have started something that will end in such a good way. Getting rid of clutter – out with the old and in with the new. Doing your own projects can save so much money, you really would be surprised. Even if you plan to hire a professional to do some of the work for you, anyone that is able bodied can take things apart and throw them out in the dumpster!! Yes and that is where we come it. Its easy to get something in your head and want to start right away while you still have that feeling of ambition and momentum! Most times, we can deliver you a dumpster the same day you call – and while you are waiting, go ahead and start a pile out in the driveway. You will be that much closer to your rental dumpster when we back our truck in and roll your empty dumpster down into its new temporary home!

Give us a call today to schedule your dumpster rental delivery and if you know ahead of time that you are making a demo plan and want to make a reservation, fantastic! Hope to talk to you all soon :)

Check out our Fall Specials!

Not sure if everyone noticed our “Specials” tab, but this is where we have been posting our monthly dumpster and snow plowing specials. This is the last weekend that we are running the October yard clean up special but that means its time for our November special!

Get a 15 yard dumpster, for household types of waste only (no roofing or construction material) for just $350! This is a one week dumpster rental with a dumpster weight limit of 3000lbs of trash. This is a great opportunity to get rid of some of those things that you have been hanging onto. Its also a great time to think about decluttering for your upcoming holiday guests – wouldn’t it be great to have all your cleaning and organizing done ahead of time and be able to just sit back and relax with your holiday guests maybe bake some cookies rather than bagging up trash or making last minute trips to your local dump?

Its also a great opportunity to get rid of all those leaves and tress branches that have fallen this fall and clean out your summer shrubbery, flower and vegetable beds. Clean up the driveway and get things ready for your plow guy or for snow blowing – which brings me to our second special.

The other special that we are currently running is in conjunction with our Snow Plowing business – Labelle Snow Plowing. Sign on with us before the end of November and receive your first plow of the season for FREE (just mention this website offer)! This winter is forecasted to be a rough one and you don’t want to be out in the freezing weather, breaking your back to shovel your driveway. Give us a call and we can drive by your property and give you a free estimate. For those already signed up, this is a great time to stake out your driveway so that we know just where we can and where we can’t plow.

Have a great weekend and Happy Halloween!

I came across some super cool pictures of people doing fun things with old dumpsters. I would never have thought of these things. Check it out!

Flower Garden Dumpster – disclaimer…please don’t fill one of our dumpsters with dirt!!

The kids would love a dumpster like this in the backyard!!

skate ramp dumpster

My all time favorite – this was actually suggested to us last time we had a 20 yard dumpster in the driveway!

dumpster swimming pool

Oh and if you want to be the envy of everyone in your cul de sac….this one should be your next do-it-yourself project.

And last but not least, if you are trying to encourage the kids to move out of the house, but they can’t quite afford their own place, here is an idea.

dumpster dorm room

We definitely have found some interesting things in our dumpsters (the angry guy at TBI was pretty put off when an old filing cabinet fell from one of our dumpsters and out spilled some videos and magazines of a “questionable” nature) but nothing like these images!  Send us your funny dumpster pics if you have any.

Have a great day!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow

I know, I know….nobody wants to hear about snow when it is just barely October, but this is the time to start thinking about it.  These New England winters can really be a pain and no one wants to be stuck on a day that they have somthing really important to do not being able to even get their car out of the driveway all day.

I see my neighbors out with their shovels and some with snow blowers, freezing their butts off, fighting with the large drifts, getting all worked up…..I think you can see where I am going with this!

We have been doing snow removal since 1994 when we first opened the disposal business and offer a reliable alternative to back breaking shoveling and frustrating snow blowing machines.  For our residential customers we offer hassle free contracts either by the storm or the season and accept cash, check and paypal.  Each driveway is priced according to the size and difficulty – we do prices on a per driveway basis and can do a free estimate in minutes. For our commercial customers the price is based on inches of snow per storm.  Additionally, we offer commercial customers shoveling, snowblowing and calcium for walkways and a sand and salt mix for parking lots.

We want all our customers and potential customers to know that we are a professional snow plowing business – this year we have added more trucks and drivers to the fleet to ensure that someone is always in your area and available when you need them.  Also we are reachable – we know how frustrating it can be to get someone’s voicemail or answering service when what you really need is to talk to the owner or manager and get a real answer.  We answer our phones as often as possible and if by chance we happen to miss your call we will get back to you as soon as possible.  Our customers are our number one priority and we take pride in the fact that year after year our repeat customer list seems to grow and grow.

Give us a call, drop us an email or make a comment….we are available to talk!
